Mobile Route Planning

چکیده
We provide an implementation of an exact route planning algorithm on a mobile device that answers distance queries in a road network of a whole continent instantaneously, i.e., with a delay of 20–200ms, which is virtually not observable for a human user. We exploit spatial and hierarchical locality properties to design a significantly compressed external-memory graph representation, which can be traversed efficiently and which occupies only a few hundred megabytes for road networks with up to 34 million nodes. Next to the accuracy, the computational speed, and the low space requirements, the simplicity of our approach is a fourth argument that suggests an application of our implementation in car navigation systems.

An Adaptive Clustering Approach Based on Minimum Travel Route Planning for Wireless Sensor Networks with a Mobile Sink
In recent years, Wireless Sensor Networks with a Mobile Sink (WSN-MS) have been an active research topic due to the widespread use of mobile devices. However, how to get the balance between data delivery latency and energy consumption becomes a key issue of WSN-MS. In this paper, we study the clustering approach by jointly considering the Route planning for mobile sink and Clustering Problem (R...
متن کاملHierarchical Vision-motion Planning With Uncertainty: Local Path Planning And Global Route Selection
A new framework of a hierarchical vision-motion planning for a mobile robot under uncertainty is proposed. An optimal plan is generated by twolevel planning: global route selection and local path planning. In global route selection, a sequence of observation points to acquire sufficient information to reach a destination is determined. Both the cost and the uncertainty of vision are considered ...
متن کاملRoute planning with ordered constraints
Route planning in realistic terrains is a critical task for many autonomous agents such as mobile robots, autonomous vehicles or Computer Generated Forces. The route planning problem is often formulated as one of finding a minimum-cost route between two locations in a digitised map which represents a complex terrain of variable altitude, where the cost of a route is an indication of its quality...
متن کاملAgent route planning in complex terrains
For many autonomous agents, such as mobile robots, autonomous vehicles and Computer Generated Forces, route planning in complex terrain is a critical task, as many of the agent’s higher-level goals can only be accomplished if the agent is in the right place at the right time. The route planning problem is often formulated as one of finding a minimum-cost route between two locations in a digitis...
متن کاملA Situation-aware Mobile Traffic Information System
Mobile information services will play an important role in our future work and private life. Enabling mobility in urban and populous areas needs innovative tools and novel techniques for individual traffic planning. However, though there already are navigation systems featuring route planning, their usability is often difficult, because neither current information nor personal user preferences ...
متن کاملA Cognitively Motivated Route-Interface for Mobile Robot Navigation
A more natural interaction between humans and mobile robots can be achieved by bridging the gap between the format of spatial knowledge used by robots and the format of languages used by humans. This enables both sides to communicate by using shared knowledge. Spatial knowledge can be (re)presented in various ways to increase the interaction between humans and mobile robots. One effective way i...
